So how does Deputy work?
It all starts with the rostering process. Deputy uses a simple drag and drop feature allows you to build a fully costed roster in minutes. You can see which employees are available and track the weather, and the ebb and flow of expected sales versus labour costing to ensure enough employees are scheduled.
Employees love Deputy as they are instantly notified of their shifts straight from their smart phone. Employees are kept up to date and no longer need to chase supervisors for their hours or come into the office to check their shifts, they have everything they need at their fingertips.
When the employees start their shift, they can either clock on with their smartphone, apple watch or at a site deputy kiosk. As the mobile option records their geolocation and the site deputy kiosk uses face detection, you can ensure that employees are at the work site when they commence their shift.

When the staff move to another job or end their shift at the end of the day, they simply clock off on their device or the deputy kiosk. At the end of the day, the site supervisor then reviews and approves the timesheets so that they are ready to be exported to payroll.
Deputy can export to various payroll packages, although at Number Wise Accounting we prefer Xero as you can use the Premium Version of Deputy with a customised award interpretation system that has specifically been created by Xero and Deputy.
This is where the magic happens. As you can setup award interpretation in Deputy, Deputy calculates overtime, penalty rates, loadings & salary costing with every shift according to your award, or your own workplace agreements. It is then exported to Xero and presto, hours are shaved off your payroll processing time!
